:)

Even though every part of this camp has been amazing, my favorite aspect that I will take away is the relationships I have made. I knew I would only know one guy, Jonathan Boyd, coming to the workshop. I hoped that I would make friends but I never thought I would make wonderful best friends like this. It did not take long for everyone to get close and find out that everyone was so fun and has so much to offer. Everyone here is different and unique and when you put us all together it really does create something amazing. I have enjoyed spending time with every single person and I hope to keep in touch! I have really enjoyed spending time with the professors and grad students as well. They are so personable and I can tell they care about every single one of the students. They have really encouraged me this week and I have learned so much from them.

To everyone that participated in the workshop I love you and will miss you all. It has been such a pleasure spending this week with you and I will always treasure this experience.

My Future Home of USM

This week on USM's campus has given me a since of confidence. I will be starting school here in the fall ,and I will now know my way around and some of my professors. Staying here for a week has also given me a taste of what it is going to be like when I go to college...I'm going to love it!
Last night a few of the girls and I walked around campus. It was so beautiful and I felt like I could make it home. We stood in the middle of the The Rock football field, walked down the Eagle Walk, peeked in the Trent Lot building, and took a picture by the front fountain. It was amazing! August can't get here fast enough!

Reflection

USM's journalism workshop is the best thing I have done for preparing for my future. It has allowed me to experience media in radio, television, newspaper, and photography. The workshop has also incorporated public relations in every aspect of the media.
From this week's experience, I have discovered what I am best at and what skills I need to improve on to succeed in this major.
Public relations seems to be my strongest point. I loved creating the PSAs and working with the public.
I am so excited I had this opportunity and met all these wonderful people. I can't believe I got to bowl with my future professors!
This week has made me so excited for what my future holds here at Southern Miss....TO THE TOP!

What Media Do You Like Most?

Journalism Workshop Blog 2

Of the media I have experienced, I have enjoyed photography the most. I have a little experience with a camera but it was neat to learn the right ways to take photographs. Learning to capture stories through a picture was interesting to learn as well. I learned the distinction between a picture and a photograph and was shown how to edit photographs I had taken. I love taking pictures with my camera so I believe what I learned through my photography session will be really beneficial to my everyday life and my future in journalism. I am excited to experience the other media throughout the rest of the week. I hope to find what I am best at to help determine what area of journalism I would like to pursue.
